Tick Tock

Tick Tock
It’s racing ahead, it’s showing on my face,
Try as I might, I can’t control its pace,
Nor can I get it back, only memories to embrace,
I need to make each DAY count.

Each new dawn, a plan’s chalked out for me,
I fall behind a bit, thinking I’ll get there eventually,
Ignorant of the high price for something that was free,
I must make each HOUR count.

Why do I indulge in frivolous gossip?
Why forget blessings and constantly crib of hardship?
Why give in to temptations and let my morals slip?
Why don’t I make each MINUTE count?

One tiny glance away, may cost a life,
One deep breath when enraged can spare the knife,
One gulp of ego; love prevails between man and wife,
Those tiny little seconds, oh how they count!
Yes, I’m gonna make every little SECOND count.
